The Role of Energy Communities in the Energy Transition
by Annalisa Cocco The paper aims to offer a legal framework for Energy Communities in the European and Italian contexts. Particular attention is given to the function of collective energy sharing introduced by lawmakers in the context of regulatory actions to implement the decarbonization goals set by the Paris Agreement. The modalities of State support to citizen initiatives operating as prosumers in the market for the beneficial impact of sharing energy and enhanced use of renewables are examined.
